Vanity Mirror is the homespun recording endeavours of Toronto based singer-songwriter Brent Randall (Gentle Brent, Electric Looking Glass) and veteran Los Angeles percussionist Johnny Toomey (The Turns, Electric Looking Glass.) The first LP “PUFF” is their vulnerable lo-fi anthology of charming bedroom pop experiments. Randall pieced together many of the tracks in makeshift spaces while traveling between LA, Montreal, Detroit & Toronto. Taping old pianos in public libraries and tracking vocals in vintage shop basements, he sent the tracks to Toomey who recorded drums & percussion in his Los Angeles basement using a handheld field recorder. The resulting album starts where their other project Electric Looking Glass leaves off with hummable, nostalgic pop that branches out into more intimate, less genre specific freeform song-craft.
